Helium cylinders are among the most widely used products in various industries, events and scientific projects. These cylinders are designed with three capacities of 10, 20 and 50 liters to cover the diverse needs of users. The smaller cylinders (10 liters) are ideal for light and portable applications, such as filling balloons or using at events. The medium models (20 liters) are suitable for small and medium industrial projects, while the larger cylinders (50 liters) are used for large and continuous industrial applications due to their larger volume. The helium in these cylinders is offered in four different grades: Balloon, 5, 5.5 and 6. Balloon grade is used for general applications such as inflating balloons and decorations. Grades 5 and 5.5, due to their higher purity, are suitable for more precise laboratory and industrial applications such as welding or medical devices. Grade 6, with its very high purity, is used in advanced scientific projects and technologies such as gas chromatography.
We strive to meet your needs with premium quality by offering a variety of helium gas cylinders and grades. For more information and to choose the most suitable option, our team is ready to respond.

Weight

They usually do not have a specific and uniform weight, and their differences in weight are affected by various factors such as capacity. The weight of fifty-liter helium cylinders varies between 50 and 70 kilograms. In contrast, ten- and twenty-liter capsules weigh less.

Color

The color of helium capsules produced in the world is determined according to the standard ISO color system and the American system, which in our country, Iran, is usually based on the ISO method. The color of cylinders containing helium gas in both systems is brown.

Material

Material is another factor that affects weight. Helium capsules are made of steel or aluminum, with steel being heavier.

Types of grids

Helium is available in three different purity grades to suit the needs of different industries and applications:

Grade 5 (99.999%): For general industrial and research use.

Grade 5.5 (99.9995%): For scientific and sensitive applications.

Grade 6 (99.9999%): For sensitive industries such as electronics and medicine.

Characteristics of grades

Companies typically supply this gas with a specific grade, which determines the percentage of purity of the gas. The higher the grade of the gas, the higher its percentage of purity.

Grade 6.0

The highest grade of this light gas is 6, which has a purity close to that of pure helium, equivalent to 99.9999. This grade is used to make semiconductor chips found in smartphones, computers, tablets, and televisions. This type of gas grade is used in research laboratories, laser cutting, MRI machines, and as a carrier gas in gas chromatography.

Grade 5.5

Another grade with a very high purity percentage is 5.5. This grade and grade 6 are known for scientific research. In addition to research applications, this gas can be used for gas chromatography, semiconductor chips, research laboratories, shielding gas in welding, fiber optic cooling gas, and other industries.

Grade 4.8

This type of gas grade has a purity of 99.998%. This grade is mainly used in the military sector and is one of the highest industrial grades.

Grade 4.7

Industrial helium with a grade of 7.4% has a purity of 99.997%, and has applications in refrigeration, purification, and compression, as well as in welding and diving.

Grade 4.7

Another type of this inert and light gas is grade 4.6 with a purity of 99.996%. This gas is known as one of the high purity gases and has a wide range of uses in various industries. In addition, this gas grade is introduced in industrial gas equipment and gas cylinders as a safe and reliable option in industrial and research processes. With these characteristics,

Helium Cylinder Equipment

Helium cylinders come with equipment, some of which comes with the cylinder itself, such as a valve, and some of which is optional and must be purchased separately:

Regulator or manometer

A regulator or manometer is an essential accessory for helium cylinders. Normally, the gas is stored at high pressure in a capsule. For use, its pressure must be reduced, which is done by a regulator, which is a type of pressure reducer. These tools come in different types, each with its own unique features and applications. For example, a regulator used to fill balloons is different from other manometers.

Helium cylinder valve

Helium cylinder valves are typically designed in two types: screw-in and screw-out, with a brass body and stem. They also have an iron nut and a steel spring. The retaining plate for screw-in and screw-out valves is typically made of aluminum or plastic.

Application and uses

Helium cylinders have a variety of applications and are used in various fields, from medicine to industry and technology and research centers. One of the uses of helium cylinders is cooling the Large Hadron Collider, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometers. In addition, they are an ideal option for filling decorative balloons, weather balloons and airships.

Other uses of helium capsules include air conditioning in cars, inflating airbags in cars, treating respiratory patients, and diving.

Safety instructions

Proper use
Proper use of helium cylinders has a great impact on preventing accidents. Keep the cylinders upright and use a wheelbarrow when working with them. They should not be filled with different gases, as they are designed exclusively for this gas. If you want to work with them, use protective equipment. If you notice a leak, immediately close the valve. Also, do not try to transfer the gas inside them from one cylinder to another. Do not open the valve without the appropriate regulator.

Avoid impact to the body
Another safety tip when using helium cylinders is to prevent them from being hit. For this purpose, they should not be rolled or dropped on the ground and they should be prevented from hitting each other. Improper transportation of cylinders or using them as hammers can cause serious damage to them.

Avoid contact with sparks and heat
Helium tanks contain compressed gas. Exposure to heat or heat will cause them to increase in pressure and rupture. Capsules should also not be exposed to electric arcs as this will weaken them.

Storage in a suitable location
Helium cylinders should be stored in a safe, covered, well-ventilated area away from heat and ignition sources. They should not be stored in open areas. Placing the cylinder in damp environments can cause rust and weakening of the metal, which can lead to its explosion. Other areas where helium gas cylinders should not be stored include: Environments where salt or corrosive substances are present. Personal vehicles stored for long periods of time. High-traffic areas or emergency exits, areas where the cylinder could fall or fall, which could damage the cylinder and release the gas.

Sunlight protection
One safety tip about helium cylinders is that they should not be exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. They should also not be burned or stored at temperatures above 120 degrees Fahrenheit (49 degrees Celsius). Exposing the capsule to such conditions can activate the pressure relief valve or regulator and cause a sudden release of pressure from the cylinder, which can cause serious bodily harm and, in some cases, death.

Purchase from reputable centers
Helium capsules should be purchased from reputable and well-known centers such as Bonan Gas Pashto, centers that offer their cylinders with excellent quality and reasonable prices.

Increasing or decreasing temperature can affect a helium capsule. Increasing temperature causes the gas inside it to expand, increasing its volume and bursting the cylinder. Decreasing temperature, on the other hand, has the opposite effect, causing the gas to contract and reducing the volume of the capsule.
